Wonderful getaway with a tinge of simplicity

Long-winded post ahead, bear with me. *wall of text [+99 damage]*

Just had the best time of the year over the weekend. Had a wonderful 2days-1night getaway at Ray’s hometown, Sungai Rengit. It is a laid-back fishing village located at southwest-end of Johor. They are well known for the mini lobster, and I personally agree to this! And I had snapped like 600-over photos in just 2 days. Speaking of which, we have a 3-person strong DSLR crew during this trip. And I learnt quite a few new photography techniques! Level up!

Took bumboat from Changi Point Jetty to Pengerang Jetty in Johor. It’s my first time taking bumboat! It a fun boatride standing at the stern enjoying the wind, although with some unwanted occasion of getting splashed by random big waves. Whole journey took 1 hour but it doesn’t seems that long while enjoying onboard.

Taxi arrangement in the area seems bad as I heard from Ray no cab want to come into this area. Waited quite awhile before the ladies get a cab through Ray’s parents help and we got Ray’s neighbour to pick us up to Ray’s place! Many thanks Ray for all the transport arrangements.

The main agenda of this short getaway was: eat, eat, eat and EAT! Had a sumptuous seafood lunch and dinner on the first day!We had lobsters for both meals! It’s like I have eaten the amount of lobsters I had eaten for the past 23 years in one day! There was a wonderful supper and an excellent heavy breakfast. Woo cares about diet when on holiday? JUST EAT ‘EM! :D

Lunch: Steamed lobster

Dinner: Butter lobster

Ray arranged a van and he drove us around the vicinity for sightseeing. It’s amazing on the amount of places we been to in just 2 days. Many thanks to Ray once again. It is cool to see things that we don’t get to see in Singapore, broaden my view of this world (yea, you can tell I’m quite a country bum of Singapore who hasn’t seen much of the world.)

Didn’t really  sleep much at night. Actually my objective was to not sleep at all. Almost fulfilled it but didn’t! :( We were spending our night at the third level balcony of Ray’s house. Star-gazing, jokes cracking, etc. Haven’t been laughing my heart out like this for quite sometime already. Many tried, but a few made it, by 3am there were only 3 of us left. Continued with all the what’s not till 0530 hours where all where defated. End up no one woke up to go to the beach for sunrise viewing.

Left Ray’s house at around 1430 hours, but we didn’t get to board any boat due to the crowd. we only get to board the boat at like 5pm! Tfried to nap on the ride back but the weather was terrible i was sweating even by sitting still.

Really really enjoyed this trip. Putting my mind off all the emo-ness and worries, just eat and laugh and let the day pass by. And I definately felt better after coming back from the trip. I guess this is good to be held as a bi-monthly event.

Next upcoming getaway: 3day-2night cruise on 25th July!

Holiday plans

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Realised I still have 8 more days of Annual Leave unconsumed. And adding on to National Day’s off-in-lieu, it will be 9 days! I have to clear all these 9 days by end of August! It is the tell tale sign that I should go on a holiday.

Supposed to go Taiwan with my poly classmates, but the planning vanished into thin air after months of discussion since last year. Such a disappointment. It is too late to plan any Taiwan trip within my leave clearance period now anyway. Now for Plan B!

Discussed with some colleagues to go for a short holiday nearby. Initially the plans was going on cruise. However after much consideration (amount to spend, things to do there) we decide not to go on cruise. So I shall do my bi-annual trip to Genting+KL. They are keen too! So this naturally transform me into the organiser for this short getaway.

Actually I am quite afraid to be organiser. As an A+ blood type Virgo, I am particular about perfection. Meaning to say, if I’m gonna organise it, I want to make sure everything goes on smoothly without any cock up. With the mind of perfection, naturally I get excited and tensed if things are moving slowly. The reason is I realise when we want to make things happen, we should strike while iron is hot. So while people are still on high enthusiasm about the trip, we shall chop chop do reservation. If it drags on another day, people think more, chances of changing mind will be high. Sorry to whoever I rushed on getting things done even though you are busy! =x

Should be holding this short holiday end of July! A 4-day-3-night Genting+KL trip. One night in Genting, two nights in KL. Same itinerary as my 2007 Post-Xmas trip. Been sourcing ups and downs for good tour packages. Once confirmed the people who are going, I shall go down to tour agency this Friday and make reservation. Hope it goes on well! *pray*

Genting + KL Trip

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

Back from my 4d3n Genting + KL trip! Reached First World Bus Terminal around 4am+. Had some coffee before proceed checking in to Resort Hotel. We only get to check in at 6am, rotting at the lobby before that. Resort Hotel has done their renovation and the room interior looks good!

Tried my luck at the casino but I didn’t get lucky at the slots machine. Lost 150RM at slots. Howeve, I’ve learnt how to play roulette effectively after a middle-aged guy came about teaching me the ‘right way’ to play. Even so, i still lost 50RM at roulette. :S so my total loss at the casino was 200RM. I’m not going to touch slots machine anymore on my next trip to Genting!

Checked out from Genting on next day afternoon and took a small passenger van down to KL. We stayed at Swiss Garden Hotel, which is nearby Sungei Wang, Low Yat Plaza and Berjaya Times Square.

Basically the whole time at KL, other than eating, sleeping, bathing, we were shopping non-stop. Bought some T-shirts and some small gifts for the kind ladies who bought me Christmas’ gifts. Managed to catch a glimpse of the Petronas Twin Tower.

I haven’t really stayed in KL before, this first time is a great experience.

Some pictures (using my phone camera, pardon the quality):
