Ubin fun

My ass hurts from off-road cycling at Pulau Ubin today. Went with my secondary school buddies. It’s my first time there (yea, I know. I’m a country bum) and its fun! The sun is crazy I tell you, lucky I had my sunblock with me. I wanna go back again, because I didn’t bring my camera along! :( There are still some places I haven’t explore as well.

Random…

Wondering today’s attempt was a bad one or not. Just wanted to do some catching up, and fill up the differences as of late; and I think the best time to do it would be over a meal.

I supposed I have like repeated this a couple of times: things might not be the same as it was last time, but at least I hope to resume from where it stopped.

Someday, someway, somehow.

Wonderful getaway with a tinge of simplicity

Long-winded post ahead, bear with me. *wall of text [+99 damage]*

Just had the best time of the year over the weekend. Had a wonderful 2days-1night getaway at Ray’s hometown, Sungai Rengit. It is a laid-back fishing village located at southwest-end of Johor. They are well known for the mini lobster, and I personally agree to this! And I had snapped like 600-over photos in just 2 days. Speaking of which, we have a 3-person strong DSLR crew during this trip. And I learnt quite a few new photography techniques! Level up!

Took bumboat from Changi Point Jetty to Pengerang Jetty in Johor. It’s my first time taking bumboat! It a fun boatride standing at the stern enjoying the wind, although with some unwanted occasion of getting splashed by random big waves. Whole journey took 1 hour but it doesn’t seems that long while enjoying onboard.

Taxi arrangement in the area seems bad as I heard from Ray no cab want to come into this area. Waited quite awhile before the ladies get a cab through Ray’s parents help and we got Ray’s neighbour to pick us up to Ray’s place! Many thanks Ray for all the transport arrangements.

The main agenda of this short getaway was: eat, eat, eat and EAT! Had a sumptuous seafood lunch and dinner on the first day!We had lobsters for both meals! It’s like I have eaten the amount of lobsters I had eaten for the past 23 years in one day! There was a wonderful supper and an excellent heavy breakfast. Woo cares about diet when on holiday? JUST EAT ‘EM! :D

Lunch: Steamed lobster

Dinner: Butter lobster

Ray arranged a van and he drove us around the vicinity for sightseeing. It’s amazing on the amount of places we been to in just 2 days. Many thanks to Ray once again. It is cool to see things that we don’t get to see in Singapore, broaden my view of this world (yea, you can tell I’m quite a country bum of Singapore who hasn’t seen much of the world.)

Didn’t really  sleep much at night. Actually my objective was to not sleep at all. Almost fulfilled it but didn’t! :( We were spending our night at the third level balcony of Ray’s house. Star-gazing, jokes cracking, etc. Haven’t been laughing my heart out like this for quite sometime already. Many tried, but a few made it, by 3am there were only 3 of us left. Continued with all the what’s not till 0530 hours where all where defated. End up no one woke up to go to the beach for sunrise viewing.

Left Ray’s house at around 1430 hours, but we didn’t get to board any boat due to the crowd. we only get to board the boat at like 5pm! Tfried to nap on the ride back but the weather was terrible i was sweating even by sitting still.

Really really enjoyed this trip. Putting my mind off all the emo-ness and worries, just eat and laugh and let the day pass by. And I definately felt better after coming back from the trip. I guess this is good to be held as a bi-monthly event.

Next upcoming getaway: 3day-2night cruise on 25th July!

The new month

Yet another month had past for 2008, and we are officially in the second half of the year. This year zoom by damn fast, just another month more I’ll be 1 year in service at work! Over the past 11 months, seen many new people coming in, and see many people going out too. Hearing news that someone is leaving sometime soon, quite surprised actually.

2 more days to Sungei Renggit trip! Excited and looking very forward to it. Thinking of borrowing some longer focal distance lens to experiment, but my friend told me to ‘tame’ my current lens before trying others. Make sense actually, I have not even mastered my own basic lens yet want to try others, more like wasting time? I’ll see how by Friday and if any lens are available.

Cleared some annual leaves for July. Next Wednesday half-day for KTV session, 17-18 July to prepare for my FYP presentation for 18 July (WOOHOO TIME TO GRADUATE!), and 25 July for cruise! Still got 5 days of annual leaves + National Day off-in-lieu to clear for August.

And seems like my poly classmates have new holiday plans, but it is for Decemeber (can’t clear my current annual leaves for it, damn.) It’s either Phuket or Bangkok. I hope this time round something concrete to be done. I want a getaway faraway! At least let me take my virgin plane ride this year? I don’t mind flying just to KL. LOL

Cruise ahoy!

Yup. Short getaway has been firmed as a 2-night cruise affair due to some were not given the green light to go Genting+KL. There goes my attempt-to-get-lucky-at-casino and shopping plans! :( Went to make booking for the cruise on Friday at Chinatown. It cost $353.50 per pax. We got a oceanview stateroom with window but partially obstructed. Will be leaving on Friday (25th July) night and back on Sunday (27th July) morning.

I brought my camera out for its maiden shoot too. I realised my photography skills are at rock bottom. Poor composition, bad control of white balance, etc. Took 300 over shots and only satisfied with less than 10 of them. Need to shoot more to improve. Guess next week’s trip to Ray’s hometown would be a good learning experience from Wisnu!

Time to share some of my more favourable shoot:
